Description
Cell : Cella : Celda brings together four European artists, each apparently separated from each other by geography, language, history and tradition, selected for their individual approach to art making which involves a shared interest in the past.
“No attempt has been made to create a group, or to suggest a common strategy - artistic, political or otherwise. Nevertheless, each artist, I believe, does recognise the latent energy of memory which is contained within their thoroughly contemporary work.”
- Robert Hopper (Director, The Henry Moore Sculpture Trust), 1993
With an introduction by Robert Hopper (Director, The Henry Moore Sculpture Trust), and sections written by each artist in the exhibition about their work: Edward Allington, Vittorio Messina (translated by Paul Blanchard), Jaume Plensa and Andrew Sabin.
