Description

Catalogue on the work of Australian artist Hany Armanious, published to coincide with the exhibition Hany Armanious: Stone Soup at Buxton Contemporary (Melbourne, 2025), following its original display at Henry Moore Institute (Leeds, 2024).

"It goes without saying that nothing is quite as it seems in Armanious's work..."

Armanious is often though of as an artists' artist, one who other artists admire. His work draws in the world around us and invites us to attune ourselves to it more acutely, to objects themselves as well as the spaces created by them.

This publication delves into Armanious's art practice through a sequence of images he curated in collaboration with designer Roland Brauchli. Alongside this, a new essay by curator Laurence Sillars considers the artist's engagement with mimesis, estrangement and the replica, reflecting on how these qualities both converse with and diverge from the traditions of sculpture.
