Description

Art and architecture join forces in the work of the young French sculptor, Laurent Pariente. His installations, composed of large, wall-like elements, serve to contain and describe space, controlling visitors' passage through the sculpture-as-location and dictating their field of vision.

Presented simultaneously in French and English, this catalogue explores the conceptual and performative nature of Pariente's work, looking at his sculpture made specifically for the Henry Moore Institute (his first outside France) as well as earlier projects.

With a preface by Robert Hopper (Director of the Henry Moore Foundation), an essay by René Denizot, 'Fugue or the necessity of art', and photographs, sketches and diagrams of Pariente's work.
