Description

Inspired by a study day held at the Institute on the sculptor Alexander Archipenko, this issue of The Sculpture Journal looks at the character of Berlin as an artistic centre.

The two essays within explore Archipenko’s time in Berlin between 1921-23, the factors that attracted him and other Russian émigrés to the city, and the factors contributing to him leaving after just over two years.
